Home; Almost There!!!

10/18/14
At 7:15 we leave Commodore yacht club for a 66 mile trip home, Cedar Creek Marina. We have one lock, Old Hickory Lock and Dam; then it's a short ride home. We arrive at the Marina at 5:00.
Approaching downtown Nashville with Riverfront Park and "the batman building" was a gorgeous site!

Clarksville Marina

10/17/14
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SONNY!!!!!!!!
This is a very special day and I didn't get to celebrate it like I wanted to. We really thought we'd be home by now; but that didn't happen because of all the rain. In spite of having to change things, we still had a great day!
We are leaving Clarksville early this morning, and manage to get through Cheatham lock with no problems. It's a 45 mile trip to Commodore Yacht Club where we will stay the night. We had dinner with our good friends Phil and Linda Carman and attended Rock Harbor Yacht Club party.

Lake Barkley

10/16/14
After 3 days of heavy storms, we finally leave GTB. These days sure were lazy, but it seems we can always find something that needs doing. If I can sneak away from chores though; I work on my jewelry. It is my passion and it occupies a lot of my time. My hands have to be busy!! I have several pieces in a little shop in Panama City plus on Facebook.
As we leave we're traveling against the current heading to the new Clarksville Marina. It's a 72 mile ride. Hard ride. Lots more trash!! The heaviest patches of logs were at the marina which made it very hard to pull in. It is a very nice marina with laundromat and showers. They have a restaurant on site called Liberty Park Cafe. Very nice and food was good.
As you can see I do not take lots of pics, only in spurts. When we leave in August, I've threatened to hire a photographer to ride along. Lol
I'd rather be making jewelry!!

Green Turtle Bay

10/12/14
After being here for 3 days, we leave at 9:30 traveling 30 miles to Lake Barkley. We have very little sunshine, but it is still a nice easy ride. When we arrive they put us in a nice big covered slip, which turns out to be a great thing because of the upcoming storms. This boat is "Hotei", leaving a day ahead of us.

Lock 52

10/8/14
Called lock master at 6:30 to get in line for docking through. They finally took us at 9:30. It's only one mile to the dam and a beautiful day for cruising. Just 23 miles to the mouth of the Cumberland, then 31 more miles to Barkley Dam. We had an hour wait but once through, we are at Green Turtle Bay Resort. Getting all of into the lock was an adventure in itself, so that made for a very long day. We celebrated at Commonwealth Yacht Club. We will stay for a few days and get caught up on laundry, etc. Traveled 45 miles.

Leaving Little Diversion Channel

10/7/14
After a good night on anchor, we all left early. The next 80 miles was probably the worst so far of trash. So when we turned from the murky brown water of the Mississippi into the blue/green water of the Ohio; it certainly was a beautiful sight! We traveled 40 on the Ohio to Lock 52, but couldn't make it through before dark. We anchored just above the I-24 bridge. Roxanne put their dinghy in and took their dog and Diablo (the dog on The Diablo) to shore. Traveled 98 miles today.

Hoppie's

10/6/14
After being at Hoppie's for 5 days, there was lots of discussion about leaving. The river was a huge mess, but it was time to go! We were one in a group of seven boats to leave at 7:15 am. The first 50 miles was a lot of logs but the next 60 wasn't as bad. Our destination today is Little Diversion Channel at Cape Giraudeau. There was a big thunderstorm that hit just as we were anchoring but we finally got set thanks to our friends who tied our stern to a tree on the bank (we do not have a stern anchor yet).
Debris surrounding us as we leave Hoppie's

There is 48 more miles of the Mississippi then we hit the Ohio.
