in Norfolk. We only stayed one night, and Sandrobber is traveling with us. Bill n Ardis drove over (they actually very close to this marina) and we had dinner at the Amber Lantern restaurant. They have great food here................
We awoke the next morning to a frost covered boat; a little slippery............Sonny says we gotta get south fast!!! I'm enjoying the heck out of this cooler weather, after this summer of being super hot! The next day we traveled 40 miles to Coinjock NC for an overnight stay.

Hampton Va.....10/17/16 thru 11/11/16

10/17..............Sonny's birthday!!!!!  Happy Birthday to the love of my life.........................
We traveled 15 miles from Norfolk to Hampton (a more economical marina) and arrived on this day. So we (Jeff n Susan, Rob n Sandy, Bill n Ardis and Sonny n myself) went out to dinner. We went to a huge mall area and ate at Monsoon, an Indian restaurant. Had a great time with everyone! This was our first of many trips to this mall, movie theatres and other attractions while here for a month. Sandy and I even went to "The Bodacious Bazaar", at their convention center full of food and craft vendors. We also saw several movies while here, plus the theatres were awesome. They had recliners, complete dinner menu, and I had a glass of wine! Not quite the movie theatres I'm use to. We had an awesome stay here, and most things were convenient. Sonny went on his annual fishing trip to Apalachicola while we were here, Marena and I stayed on the boat. We rented a car and drove to Williamsburg, Va. That was a great day trip.............
One day I had de-boned a rotisserie chicken, tied up the bag and set it outside the door on our step. I intended on taking it to the trash. Later that night Marena and I had gone to bed and Sonny was sitting up watching TV. He heard something outside the door, twice, opened it and there sat a raccoon!!!! It almost made it inside, but thankfully Sonny slammed the door just in time. Needless to say; the next morning was a major clean up. Not the chicken scraps, but raccoon poop!!!!!!!!!!!!! I almost got in trouble over that one....................LOL
While here, Jeff (second from right in first pic), had to leave us and head back to Baltimore to Johns-Hopkins for surgery. He had been having problems that were finally diagnosed, a brain tumor. Anyhow; at this writing 11/30, he is recouping well. We sure hated for this to happen to him, they are such good friends!!!
Sonny's Birthday celebration!

9/30/16 thru 10/16/16

After a 46 mile ride, we arrived at Waterside Marina in Norfolk, the city of Mermaids.............this marina is in a perfect spot, we are only 3 blocks from downtown and a large mall. Almost everything we need is very convenient. Act III and Sandrobber are also here with us.
Bill and Ardis (friends of Act III) live very close and come to visit and take us shopping and out to dinner. They are the nicest nicest couple.......glad to call them our friends now!
When we stay in a marina for a long time, there isn't much to talk about. Just day to day living......
There was a huge wine festival at the park (right beside of dock) one weekend. It featured all Virginia wines. It was packed with people, with long long lines. So we didn't get to do much tasting. Sad......

9/21/16 thru 9/29/16

Went to Solomons Island and anchored out in Lusby Cove for a night. The next day we traveled 58mi to Chesapeake Boat Basin, fueled, and anchored in Bells Creek. This was the roughest ride we've had since leaving on our trip. I hung in there for a long time but finally ended up hanging my head over the side. That day affected me for many days afterward; my balance is still not exactly right! On the 23rd we pulled into Zimmerman Marine @ Deltaville, Va. They worked on our dinghy motor. We left on the 24th, traveled 59 miles, anchoring in the East River off Mobjack Bay for 2 nights. Great anchorage, took dinghy rides finally again! The next day we went into Zimmerman Marine in Mathews to have our door repaired and ended up getting several other things worked on while there. $$$$$$$$......We used the courtesy car and drove into Mathews to a great little pizza place, twice!!!!! Great food..........
