When we left Florence, we headed to Riverwalk Marina in Decatur to visit with Dave (Sonny's brother) and Glenda. We went through two locks, Wilson & Wheeler. Wilson wasn't any fun at all! As many times as we have been through locks, we learned something new that day about tying up on the wall. It is a 90' lift, which is the highest we've been through. Plus we tied off at the edge of the turbulence. It beat us around, and destroyed a fender! We now use 2 lines. Oh well, live n learn!
We expected a long wait at Wheeler, because the main chamber was closed, and had talked to the lockmaster who informed us he had tows scheduled for about 16 hrs! Yikes!!!! But as we got close to the lock, he told us to come on in. Yay! One of the tows was doing some readjusting of the barges, and that gave us a window of opportunity.......
Dave n Glenda picked us up for dinner (went downtown to a new cajun restaurant). It was very very good! They left us a vehicle, and the next two days we spent running errands. Laundry, grocery, Marena and Sonny's grooming (hehehe). The next day we went to the Apple store in Huntsville and bought me a new I-Pad. Now my blogging is much easier, and I don't have to bitch all the time!!! I had won my old I-Pad at a trawlerfest in Baltimore in 2010, so it was time.
Glenda n Dave cooked dinner on the 3rd, and we had a great homecooked meal. Also; got to visit with Noelle n Jonathan (daughter n son-in-law), and their 3 sweet kiddos, Briley, Brennan and Kendall (hope I spelled it right)!!!!
Tomorrow (friday) we will leave headed to Goose Pond Marina on Guntersville Lake.
