4/24/16

This Sunday morning we leave out early, heading for an anchorage. We will anchor in Crescent River traveling 45 miles today. We did this because we had to break up our traveling time; crossing several shallow water areas during high tide. Going through Georgia's ICW has proved to be a challenge. We always love anchoring out, and this was a great spot. But the no-see-ums are awful here! We could use a haz-mat suit!!! lol  Anyhow; supper was delish.............grilled salmon, squash, and corn on cob!

We leave out at sunrise this morning. I love my sleep; but every now and then seeing that beautiful ball on the horizon is pretty nice. We have over 60 miles to travel today heading to Brunswick, Georgia. We will stay 3 nights at Brunswick Landing Marina and leave on Sunday, 4/24. While here we walked  and rode our bikes to their downtown to eat and tour the town. They have an awesome clubhouse here, Huge eating area, bar, library, tv room, free laundry, bathrooms, showers, and very clean. Did I say it was awesome? On Saturday we went to the farmers market and bought some great fresh vegetables. Tomorrow night when we anchor out, we are gonna have these veggies!

4/20/16

Left Ortega River Marina around noon............something wasn't right with the air conditioner, so Bill n Ronnie had to come back and make some corrections. All is good now, so we are on our way. We are only going 21 miles back out the St. John's River into the ICW to a free wall anchorage for the night. There were 8 of us there, and the wall was full. That night we played "Jokers" with Jeff n Susan, Rob n Sandy. It's a fun game!!! And that big bowl of  M&M's is good too.....Other than that, it was a pretty simple day.
I'll add pics later.

4/18/16

Left St. Augustine for a 65 mile trip, headed to Jacksonville. We weren't going to stop here; but this is where the technicians are going to put in our new air conditioner. So, we stop here and skip Fernandina Marina. Jacksonville is 21 miles up the St. Johns River. Our stopping point is at Ortega River Marina.
Bill Huffaker passed away, so Sonny flew home for the funeral. It is such a horrible thing; and we are very sad for his family.
The air conditioner got replaced and laundry caught up. That's about it. When you are only there two nights (one day); time passes fast.
There are no pics. Didn't go anywhere. Didn't see anything fascinating. Don't think you'd want to see pics of the laundry room. That's all I did.

4/14/16

We are leaving Daytona heading for St. Augustine (54 miles). We have big plans; been looking forward to touring the oldest city. But our plans got changed real quick. Sonny got sick (upper respiratory) and the winds blew 20-30 mph with intermittent raining. He did go into town for a doctor visit but that was it!!! Poor Marena and Poor Me stayed on board the whole time. 4 nights. I cleaned the woodwork (which means the whole interior of the boat). It's all wood! And beautiful! That's one thing that drew us to the Ocean Alexander. Anyhow; when we come back down the east coast this fall we will spend time in St. Augustine then.................We were not in a marina; we were on a mooring ball. Our first time. I loved it; and they even came to our boat to pump out the holding tanks! Yippee!

We stayed a couple days longer than planned in Titusville because of weather. When it's windy; we don't go! We are now headed to Daytona Beach, and we crossed a milestone. We have traveled 3000 miles since leaving Nashville in August. The marina here is Halifax Marina and has 550 slips! We rented a car while there to tour the race track. It was lots of fun even went into victory lane. Our guide had been going there to races and just hanging around the track for over 50 yrs! He had some stories to tell.................. We walked through old Daytona and ate at a restaurant there.
The air conditioner in the front stateroom died; so we had technicians check it out while here, then made plans to install a new one on up the coast. Oh yeah; the washer/dryer died too. I'm sick over that; it'll get replaced sometime. It's always something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4/4/16

We left Cocoa Village heading for our anchorage @ Nasa Causeway Bridge. It was only 15 miles away from the village. This is the bridge that takes the traffic over to the Kennedy Space Center. The night was nice and quiet and we were in site of the assembly building. The next morning we took our time; Titusville Munical Marina was only 6 miles away. This will prove to be a great stop! While there a sailboat pulled in from Hawaii, traveling around the world. They change crews about once a month. They are raising awareness about protecting our earth. When you see the pic I have posted, you will see their website. The reception they received here was absolutely amazing! It looked (and sounded) like half the town was here!! Within the next couple of days they had interviews, photographers and the city doing various get-togethers. We rented a car one day to run errands and go to The Kennedy Space Center. I'll have to admit this was a great, great tour. We have been riding our bikes around town, trying to get a little exercise. On Friday @ 4:43pm there will be another launch sending provisions to the satellite. We are going to ride our bikes to the bridge closest to us and watch from there.

Sandy n Rob in their American Tug
Leaving out early today heading for Cocoa Village Marina. Beautiful day for boating! Act III (Jeff n Susan) went on to Titusville and Sandrobber (Rob n Sandy) is stopping with us. This little village is very nice, we are only a few blocks away. Sandy n I found a great hair salon (Studio 2 Twenty 4), where we got re-beautified (head n toes)! Then the next day we all walked back to The Village for morning special coffees, and shopping. Love the little shops, especially the Olive and Grapes store where we loaded up on oils n vinegars! Also ate dinner at "The Tulip", great food. Anyhow; had a fun, fun time with Sandy n Rob..............

3/28/16

Today is a short ride, only 15 miles. We are headed to Loggerhead Yacht Club at Vero Beach. This marina is very nice, great facilities and a pool. It's at Grand Harbor Resort, which includes condos, private homes and golf courses. Everything was too far away for walking, so we rented a car with Rob n Sandy to go and re-stock! Lots of rain while here...............Jeff n Susan pulled in on our last day here, so we all got together and played "Jokers". fun, fun times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We leave out early this morning headed for Ft. Pierce. Traveled 50 with lots of bridges, but only a few had to open for us. We got here at 2:00; just in time to prepare for the music festival on the docks. There were seven bands that played from 4 till 11...............music was great and we were right beside one of the stages. We met a couple from the band "Southern Drawl". Most of the members were from Knoxville, but the lead singer (Mike Nash), was from Mt. Juliet. This was on Saturday; but starting Sunday was a week long Jazz n Blues Festival. We went to the festival on Sunday and really enjoyed it. Our Favorite group was Otis Cadillac and The Eldorados featuring the Seville Sisters!!! Man could they sing the blues.....................sometimes you just get lucky!!!
