6/22 thru 6/27/17

We had a 22 mile day up the St. Lawrence River into Canada. We are docked @ Confederate Basin Marina in Kingston, Ontario. This is a nice place to be, the marina is right at the downtown area so that it is convenient to walk to lots of restaurants and shops and a nice farmers market. We are actually staying here longer than planned because of either wind or rain. It's a great place to be though!!! We toured Fort Henry, Penetentiary Museum, home of John McDonald (Canada's 1st Prime Minister), and the cities beautiful architecture.

6/14 thru 6/21/17......The Dreaded Erie Canal

I didn't know that I dreaded the canal at the time; but I do now. I cannot imagine anyone doing this trip twice

if you take this direction.................... maybe when I forget just how much I disliked it! We have a 160 mile trip to the Oswego Canal and 22 locks. The first day was 39 miles and 9 locks to Amsterdam. NY. The marina wall we tied up to is nice, it's at a park area and has a restaurant. We had no power again, for some reason the power poles wouldn't work for us. We left early the next morning for a 41 mile trip and 7 locks to Little Falls Canal Harbor.                                                                              The next day is 49 miles, & 5 locks to Sylvan Beach. Rain rain rain..........                                                                                                    The next morning is 22 miles to Ess-Kay Marina in Bremerton, NY.  We used their courtesy van (no air conditioning, and it was HOT) to go to Wal-Mart and Post Office.                                                                                                                                                                           The next morning was another 32 miles and 7 locks to Oswego. We will tie up to a free wall while storms move through that afternoon.    The next morning we were in the next lock @ 7am, then stopped for fuel before crossing Lake Ontario, then the St. Lawrence River. We traveled 64 miles to Clayton Harbor Marina in Clayton, NY. While here we caught a ferry and toured The 1000 Islands, and Boldt Castle. The scenery is wonderful..............
When we leave here we will enter Canada.      Wish I knew why my wording is separating when I insert pics......................wish I knew how to insert a sad face.............................

5/12 thru 6/1/17

Now we are heading to Bohemia Bay, 43 miles and still funky weather. But this stop is a great one because we meet up with our friends Foster and Susan on Quo Vadimus. We met them three years ago when we started our trip bringing the boat home from Holland, Mi.....We stayed here for 5 days, visited with them, and used their vehicle for reprovisioning.
When we left here, we had a short run to Delaware City Marina where we only stayed one night and Foster & Susan drove there to take us out to dinner again plus give us a tour of Chesapeake City.
The next day we have a smooth 61 mile ride down Delaware Bay, I say smooth because it can be a treacherous body of water. We are on our way to Cape May, NJ. We will leave the boat here for a couple weeks at Utsch's Marina while we travel home for granddaughter Molly's graduation from Greenwood High School in Bowling Green, Ky. Our plans were to leave it in Atlantic City but the weather did not allow that.....
blogger decided to not upload photos, so i'll have to add them later.
