6/8 thru 6/12/17

Beautiful day for a 57 mile ride on up the Hudson River to Kingston, New York. We will tie up to a rickety dock (it's free as long as we eat at their restaurant; not a problem!) The name is Ole Savannah Southern Table & Bar...........the town is a neat little place on the waterfront and on a steep hill!                                                                                                                                                                                                   The next day is a short 41 mile trip to Shady Harbor Marina. We will be here 4 days, having a stand built to hold our mast (we are too tall with it up to clear the upcoming bridges); also the marina will be having cookouts Saturday and Sunday. There are 17 looper boats here. There is nothing close to the marina to walk to except for a restaurant on site. But they kept us entertained the whole weekend, and the staff were the nicest people.                                                                                                                                                                          Four days later we had a short trip, 25 miles, to Waterford, NY.........We stayed on their town wall without power, so we used the generator when necessary. Walked to an Irish Pub for dinner with the crew of Shell Belle and Seascape.                                                            Tomorrow we will enter Lock #1 of the Erie Canal.
